PhD student. Yulun works on the retrieval of remote sensing reflectance of rivers from satellite imagery. His study site is in the South Nation River Watershed in Eastern Ontario where agricultural runoff threatens water quality. The goal of his study is to understand how changes in water quality manifest as changes in the colour of the rivers, and how observing this colour from space can be used to measure water quality. At leisure, he likes playing basketball and read
MSc student. Genevieve works on detecting lake colour change in Northern Canada. There is evidence of lake colour change in the north, but the extent of the phenomenon is currently unknown. Her research will use open-access Landsat imagery on Google Earth Engine to assess the temporal trend of lake colour change across the Canadian Arctic for the past 30 years. Outside of school, Gen dances ballet and dabbles in graphic design.
